As part of the training program “Developing Policy-Making Abilities for Sustainable Forest Management,” organized by JICA Tokyo and JIFPRO (Japan International Forestry Promotion and Cooperation Center), a site visit was conducted to Toyosu Senkyaku-Banrai, where Shelter was responsible for the timber design and supervision, including the use of our fireproof timber material COOL WOOD.
This program provides key personnel engaged in forestry extension and forest conservation from developing countries with opportunities to learn from Japanese best practices and technologies, supporting policy formulation in their home countries.
Trainees from 12 countries including Brazil, Pakistan, and Cameroon participated in the visit. We introduced Toyosu Senkyaku-Banrai as an example of innovative urban timber architecture, highlighting the role of COOL WOOD, as well as the hybrid structural system optimized for timber utilization.
Guided by our corporate vision of “Creating Forests in the City,” Shelter will continue to promote mass timber construction and contributes to sustainable development worldwide.
